Caller Names To Show On Mobile Screens From November 1, DoT Orders

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has directed all telecom operators to display the caller's name alongside their number on the receiver's phone screen starting November 1. This new Calling Name Presentation (CNAP) service will show the stored contact name if available, or the name registered with the operator. International calls will be marked as 'International Call'. Telecom providers like Airtel, Jio, and Vodafone Idea have conducted trials for this feature on 4G and higher networks. The government plans to extend this facility to older networks later.

दूरसंचार विभाग (DoT) ने सभी टेलीकॉम ऑपरेटरों को 1 नवंबर से रिसीवर के फोन स्क्रीन पर नंबर के साथ कॉलर का नाम दिखाने का निर्देश दिया है। यह नई कॉलिंग नेम प्रेजेंटेशन (CNAP) सेवा उपलब्ध होने पर सेव किया गया संपर्क नाम या ऑपरेटर के साथ पंजीकृत नाम दिखाएगी। अंतरराष्ट्रीय कॉल को 'इंटरनेशनल कॉल' के रूप में चिह्नित किया जाएगा। एयरटेल, जियो और वोडाफोन आइडिया जैसी टेलीकॉम कंपनियों ने 4G और उच्च नेटवर्क पर इस सुविधा के लिए ट्रायल किए हैं। सरकार बाद में पुरानी नेटवर्कों पर भी यह सुविधा शुरू करने की योजना बना रही है।
