Arunachal CM Assures Public on Siang Mega Dam Project

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has assured residents that the proposed Siang Upper Multipurpose Project will not proceed without public consultation. He stated that the government is currently focused solely on completing the Pre-Feasibility Report (PFR) and is engaging with local youth and student unions for discussions. Khandu emphasized that any decision on dam construction will only be made after the PFR confirms its feasibility and after consulting residents as per legal provisions. He also addressed concerns about misinformation being spread regarding the project.

अरुणाचल प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री पेमा खांडू ने निवासियों को भरोसा दिलाया है कि प्रस्तावित सियांग अपर मल्टीपर्पस प्रोजेक्ट जनता की राय लिए बिना आगे नहीं बढ़ेगा। उन्होंने कहा कि सरकार फिलहाल केवल प्री-फिजिबिलिटी रिपोर्ट (PFR) को पूरा करने पर ध्यान केंद्रित कर रही है और चर्चा के लिए स्थानीय युवाओं और छात्र संघों से बात कर रही है। खांडू ने जोर देकर कहा कि बांध निर्माण पर कोई भी फैसला PFR द्वारा इसकी व्यवहार्यता की पुष्टि होने और कानूनी प्रावधानों के अनुसार निवासियों से सलाह लेने के बाद ही लिया जाएगा। उन्होंने प्रोजेक्ट को लेकर फैलाई जा रही गलत सूचनाओं पर भी चिंता जताई।
