Punjab Chief Secretary Gets Contempt Notice For False Statement

The Hindu · india

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has issued a notice to Punjab Chief Secretary K.A.P. Sinha, questioning why criminal contempt proceedings should not be initiated against him. This action stems from a prima facie false statement made regarding the status of the state government's appeal in the Supreme Court concerning employees' and pensioners' dearness allowance dues. The court noted that defects in the appeal had not been removed, contradicting the Chief Secretary's claim. The High Court has ordered the Chief Secretary to be present on the next hearing date.
