Delhi Court Grants Congress MP 7-Day Notice Before Arrest in Sexual Harassment Case

A Delhi court has ordered the police not to take coercive action against Congress MP Angomcha Bimol Akoijam in a sexual harassment case. The court directed that Mr. Akoijam be given seven days' notice if the police intend to arrest him. This comes after he was dismissed from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) following an inquiry into allegations made by at least 11 women students. Mr. Akoijam has denied the allegations and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.

दिल्ली की एक अदालत ने पुलिस को कांग्रेस सांसद अंगोमचा बिमोल एकोइजम के खिलाफ यौन उत्पीड़न के मामले में कोई भी जबरन कार्रवाई न करने का आदेश दिया है। अदालत ने निर्देश दिया कि यदि पुलिस उन्हें गिरफ्तार करना चाहती है तो श्री एकोइजम को सात दिन का नोटिस दिया जाए। यह तब हुआ जब कम से कम 11 महिला छात्रों द्वारा लगाए गए आरोपों की जांच के बाद उन्हें जवाहरलाल नेहरू विश्वविद्यालय (JNU) से बर्खास्त कर दिया गया था। श्री एकोइजम ने आरोपों से इनकार किया है और चल रही जांच में सहयोग कर रहे हैं।
