भारतीय विशिष्ट पहचान प्राधिकरण (UIDAI) ने आधार नाम अपडेट के लिए एक नई मानक संचालन प्रक्रिया (SOP) जारी की है, जो 18 सितंबर से प्रभावी होगी। इस संशोधित प्रक्रिया में नाम परिवर्तन को उनकी प्रकृति के आधार पर वर्गीकृत किया गया है, जिसमें प्रत्येक मामले के लिए विशिष्ट दस्तावेजों की आवश्यकता होगी। शुरुआती अक्षर का विस्तार करने या वर्तनी की गलतियों को ठीक करने जैसे मामूली सुधारों की आवश्यकताएं बड़े बदलावों से अलग हैं, जिनके लिए राजपत्र अधिसूचना की आवश्यकता होगी। SOP में विवाह, तलाक, लिंग परिवर्तन के कारण नाम परिवर्तन और प्रारंभिक नामांकन के दौरान हुई डेटा-एंट्री त्रुटियों को ठीक करने का भी उल्लेख है।
