India Sets 374 Million Tonne Foodgrain Target

Despite a 12% rainfall deficit during the kharif season, India has set an optimistic foodgrain production target of 374 million tonnes for 2026-27. This target is only marginally lower than the estimated output of 377 million tonnes in the previous year. Preparedness measures, including focusing on less water-intensive crops and timely weather warnings, helped farmers achieve good acreage. The government plans to use this strategy for the upcoming Rabi season to mitigate challenges from low water availability.

खरीफ सीजन में 12% बारिश की कमी के बावजूद, भारत ने 2026-27 के लिए 374 मिलियन टन के खाद्य उत्पादन का लक्ष्य रखा है। यह लक्ष्य पिछले साल के अनुमानित 377 मिलियन टन के उत्पादन से थोड़ा ही कम है। कम पानी वाली फसलों पर ध्यान केंद्रित करने और समय पर मौसम की चेतावनी जैसी तैयारियों ने किसानों को अच्छी बुवाई करने में मदद की। सरकार पानी की कमी की चुनौतियों से निपटने के लिए आने वाले रबी सीजन के लिए भी इसी रणनीति का उपयोग करने की योजना बना रही है।
