Andhra Village Builds Aerial Water Network Amidst Severe Groundwater Crisis

Times of India · environment

Residents of Mandadi village in Andhra Pradesh have ingeniously constructed an aerial pipeline network across rooftops and roads to supply drinking water. This measure became necessary due to a severe groundwater crisis, with wells and even deep borewells failing to yield water. The village now relies on distant borewells, pumping water to a central storage well for distribution. Villagers are sharing costs for motors and maintenance of this unusual system.
