India's southwest monsoon concluded with a significant 12.6% rainfall deficit, marking it as the driest season in 11 years and the fourth driest of this century. The monsoon, which began on June 4, arrived three days later than its usual onset. The country received 759.4 mm of rainfall against a long-period average of 868.6 mm. Rainfall deficits were particularly pronounced in the southern peninsula and the northeast regions, impacting water availability across the nation.
