TV9 Hindi · environment

Over 500 trees in Chhattisgarh's Udanti Sitanadi Tiger Reserve have been damaged by 'girdling', a process where bark is removed, cutting off nutrient supply and leading to death. Forest officials are now enlisting experts to perform 'surgery' or 'bridge-grafting' to save these trees. This conservation initiative aims to restore the damaged forest, which is vital for biodiversity and the origin of the Mahanadi River. Legal action is also being pursued against those responsible for the damage.
