Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has postponed the legislative elections, originally scheduled for November, by nearly a year. The decree combines the legislative vote with a presidential election, now set for September 11, 2027. Officials cited unfavorable conditions in East Jerusalem, the West Bank, and Gaza, including Israeli interference and restrictions on observers. The PLO stated Israel prevented election materials and observers from entering Gaza. This postponement leaves entrenched leaders unchallenged and may further erode the Palestinian Authority's credibility.
