Madras HC Bars DVAC Harassment of Ex-Minister Velu Till Oct 15

The Madras High Court has instructed the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) not to harass former minister E V Velu and his son E V Kumaran. This directive comes as the court hears their anticipatory bail applications in a case alleging ₹8.22 crore loss to the government due to illegal soil excavation from a lake. The excavation was reportedly for a DMK youth wing conference in Tiruvannamalai.

मद्रास हाईकोर्ट ने डायरेक्टरेट ऑफ विजिलेंस एंड एंटी-करप्शन (DVAC) को पूर्व मंत्री ई वी वेलू और उनके बेटे ई वी कुमरन को परेशान न करने का निर्देश दिया है। यह निर्देश ऐसे समय आया है जब कोर्ट झील से अवैध मिट्टी खुदाई के कारण सरकार को ₹8.22 करोड़ के नुकसान के आरोपों वाले मामले में उनकी अग्रिम जमानत याचिकाओं पर सुनवाई कर रहा है। कथित तौर पर यह खुदाई तिरुवन्नामलाई में एक डीएमके युवा विंग सम्मेलन के लिए की गई थी।
