Punjab & Haryana HC Orders Probe Into Missing Envelope In Professor Recruitment Case

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has directed the Chandigarh DGP to investigate a "missing" envelope containing selection committee recommendations for a professor's post at the Central University of Punjab, Bathinda. The petitioner, Ajay Singh Verma, challenged the delay in the recruitment process initiated in April 2022. Despite being deemed eligible with the highest score, the selection process remained pending. Respondents informed the court that the crucial envelope was untraceable, prompting the court to order a preliminary inquiry into the matter.

पंजाब और हरियाणा हाईकोर्ट ने चंडीगढ़ के DGP को सेंट्रल यूनिवर्सिटी ऑफ पंजाब, बठिंडा में प्रोफेसर पद के लिए चयन समिति की सिफारिशों वाले 'लापता' लिफाफे की जांच करने का निर्देश दिया है। याचिकाकर्ता अजय सिंह वर्मा ने अप्रैल 2022 में शुरू की गई भर्ती प्रक्रिया में देरी को चुनौती दी थी। उच्चतम अंक प्राप्त करने और योग्य माने जाने के बावजूद, चयन प्रक्रिया लंबित रही। प्रतिवादियों ने अदालत को सूचित किया कि महत्वपूर्ण लिफाफा नहीं मिल रहा है, जिसके बाद अदालत ने मामले की प्रारंभिक जांच का आदेश दिया।
