The Kerala Assembly witnessed heated exchanges after Speaker Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan denied permission for Opposition Leader Pinarayi Vijayan to submit a motion. The motion concerned constitutional issues arising from former Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar's recommendation to remove the Kerala Public Service Commission chairperson. The Speaker cited rules against discussing issues involving the President or Governor. However, Vijayan countered by recalling a 2020 instance where the then Speaker allowed a resolution against a Governor. The government stated the issue's importance for the country's democratic system and constitutional values.
