Delhi HC Warns Over DUSU Poll Violence

The Delhi High Court has strongly condemned violence during campaigning for the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) elections. The court warned it could stay the counting of votes and declaration of results if unsatisfied with the responses from Delhi University, Delhi Police, and the Centre. Observing that democracy cannot be converted into a criminal society, the court sought reports on steps taken to control the violence.

दिल्ली हाई कोर्ट ने दिल्ली यूनिवर्सिटी छात्र संघ (DUSU) चुनावों के प्रचार के दौरान हुई हिंसा की कड़ी निंदा की है। कोर्ट ने चेतावनी दी है कि अगर दिल्ली यूनिवर्सिटी, दिल्ली पुलिस और केंद्र सरकार के जवाबों से संतुष्ट नहीं हुआ तो वह वोटों की गिनती और नतीजों की घोषणा पर रोक लगा सकता है। कोर्ट ने कहा कि लोकतंत्र को आपराधिक समाज में नहीं बदला जा सकता और हिंसा रोकने के लिए उठाए गए कदमों पर रिपोर्ट मांगी है।
