Panaji's ambitious Rs 1,100 crore Smart City Mission has left residents with traffic chaos and crumbling infrastructure, despite promises of modern urban living. Completed projects, including pavements and roads, have rapidly deteriorated, while sewerage networks struggle with basic overflows. Significant funds allocated for projects like the St Inez nallah rejuvenation and smart roads have yielded little tangible improvement, with residents still lacking basic amenities like uninterrupted water supply. The mission's execution has been criticized for wasteful expenditure and a lack of focus on actual citizen needs.

पणजी की महत्वाकांक्षी 1,100 करोड़ रुपये की स्मार्ट सिटी मिशन ने आधुनिक शहरी जीवन के वादों के बावजूद निवासियों को ट्रैफिक जाम और जर्जर बुनियादी ढांचे के साथ छोड़ दिया है। फुटपाथों और सड़कों सहित पूरे हो चुके प्रोजेक्ट तेजी से खराब हो गए हैं, जबकि सीवरेज नेटवर्क बुनियादी ओवरफ्लो से जूझ रहे हैं। सेंट इनेज नाला कायाकल्प और स्मार्ट सड़कों जैसी परियोजनाओं के लिए आवंटित महत्वपूर्ण धनराशि से बहुत कम ठोस सुधार हुआ है, और निवासियों को अभी भी निर्बाध पानी की आपूर्ति जैसी बुनियादी सुविधाएं नहीं मिल रही हैं। मिशन के कार्यान्वयन की आलोचना अपव्ययी खर्च और वास्तविक नागरिक जरूरतों पर ध्यान न देने के लिए की गई है।
