External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has called for UN Security Council reform, stating that India and Africa are underrepresented in global decision-making and advocating for a more democratic and representative system of global governance. During sharp exchanges at the United Nations, India rebuked Pakistan for its nuclear rhetoric and for spreading falsehoods about Jammu and Kashmir. India asserted that nuclear weapons should not be used as routine instruments of statecraft and that it would not yield to nuclear blackmail.

विदेश मंत्री एस जयशंकर ने संयुक्त राष्ट्र सुरक्षा परिषद में सुधार का आह्वान किया है, यह कहते हुए कि भारत और अफ्रीका वैश्विक निर्णय लेने में कम प्रतिनिधित्व वाले हैं और वैश्विक शासन की अधिक लोकतांत्रिक और प्रतिनिधि प्रणाली की वकालत की है। संयुक्त राष्ट्र में तीखी नोकझोंक के दौरान, भारत ने पाकिस्तान को उसके परमाणु बयानबाजी और जम्मू और कश्मीर के बारे में झूठी बातें फैलाने के लिए फटकार लगाई। भारत ने जोर देकर कहा कि परमाणु हथियारों का इस्तेमाल राज्य-नीति के नियमित साधनों के रूप में नहीं किया जाना चाहिए और वह परमाणु ब्लैकमेल के आगे नहीं झुकेगा।
