The founder of Britain's oldest Indian restaurant, Veeraswamy, has accused the Crown Estate of devaluing Indian cuisine by seeking to evict the Michelin-starred eatery from its Regent Street location. Ranjit Mathrani claims the Crown Estate views European food as superior and is taking them to court for refusing to extend the lease. The Crown Estate states the decision is due to refurbishment needs and they have offered to help MW Eat find new premises and provide financial compensation. Veeraswamy previously catered for Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace.
