Religious minority leaders and civil society groups in Karnataka have urged the state government to repeal the Karnataka Protection of Right to Freedom of Religion Act, 2022. They argue the law criminalizes their existence and undermines constitutional freedom of conscience. At a press conference in Bengaluru, they also called for strengthening laws against hate speech and communal incitement. The leaders stated that the anti-conversion law, along with other recent legislations, negatively impacts vulnerable sections of society. They believe repealing these acts will set a positive precedent.
