Ethiopia is facing renewed conflict just four years after a peace deal ended the devastating Tigray war. Several armed groups have formed an alliance aiming to overthrow Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed's federal government. The 2022 Pretoria Peace Agreement, which ended the conflict between the federal government and the TPLF, cost hundreds of thousands of lives. Analysts suggest the deal collapsed due to the neglect of key actors like Eritrea, Amhara militias (Fano), and hardliners within the TPLF.
