Tamil Nadu Studies Mosquito Repellent Creams To Combat Dengue
TOI - Delhi · india
Tamil Nadu is launching a pilot study in Tenkasi to assess the effectiveness of mosquito-repellent creams in reducing dengue infections. The study, covering 33 wards in Kadayanallur municipality, will be conducted jointly by the National Institute of Epidemiology and the public health department. Researchers will evaluate if repellents, used alongside existing control measures, decrease dengue cases and check for side effects. If proven effective, the government may integrate them into the state's dengue prevention program. This initiative complements a separate pilot study on a new dengue vaccine.
