Times of India · world
India has urged the United Nations to recognize terrorist acts, meeting a specific threshold, as crimes against humanity. Speaking at the UN General Assembly's sixth committee, India's representative emphasized that states must lead in preventing and prosecuting such crimes through their national legal systems. The nation also advocated for respecting state sovereignty and non-interference in internal affairs. India stressed that any new convention should complement, not duplicate, existing international legal mechanisms, calling for broadly accepted principles and stronger national capacities.
