Some families sell ancestral land or livestock, while others take loans to support their children's sporting dreams. Female athletes often face additional societal challenges on top of their athletic pursuits. This struggle persists even for established stars like weightlifter Mirabai Chanu, who recently won a silver medal at the Asian Games after overcoming her own early financial hurdles.
