An old, unoccupied three-storey building collapsed in Erode's Karungalpalayam area on Saturday due to damage from recent heavy rains. The approximately 60-year-old residential structure had been unused for two years. While the collapse reduced an adjacent eatery to rubble, no injuries were reported as the establishment was empty. The incident also damaged an electricity pole, disrupting power supply to nearby localities, with restoration work underway. Local police and fire services are investigating the cause.
