A rare 1,500-year-old Vishnu idol and two other ancient artefacts have gone missing from the Mukteshwar Mahadev temple in Madhubani, Bihar. The missing antiquities include idols of Lord Vishnu and Mahishasura Mardini Durga, along with a Vishnu sculpture pedestal. The Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (Intach) has urged authorities to investigate the matter and recover the stolen objects. Intach alleges the temple priests are responsible for the removal of these historical items, raising concerns about the security of archaeological heritage in the state.
