Hindustan Times · india

Maharashtra has introduced new rules for housing society redevelopment, requiring a 51% majority approval from total members and a two-thirds quorum for decisions. The government has also formalized virtual participation for members living abroad, critically ill, or disabled, ensuring their votes count towards the quorum and majority. Societies must now invite at least three developer bids, with strict timelines for executing development agreements and permanent alternative accommodation agreements. All redevelopment documents will be accessible to members for inspection, enhancing transparency in the process.
