चुनाव आयोग ने 17 राज्यों और केंद्र शासित प्रदेशों में मतदाता सूचियों के विशेष सारांश संशोधन (SSR) की घोषणा की है, जिसमें 1 जनवरी 2024 को पात्रता तिथि के रूप में निर्धारित किया गया है। इस प्रक्रिया का उद्देश्य नए मतदाताओं को पंजीकृत करके, मौजूदा प्रविष्टियों को सही करके और अयोग्य मतदाताओं को हटाकर चुनावी रोल्स को अपडेट करना है। संशोधन में उत्तर प्रदेश, बिहार और पश्चिम बंगाल जैसे राज्य शामिल होंगे, जिनमें आगामी विधानसभा चुनाव भी होने हैं। मसौदा सूचियों का प्रकाशन किया जाएगा, जिसमें दावों और आपत्तियों को स्वीकार किया जाएगा, और अंतिम सूची 5 जनवरी 2024 को प्रकाशित होगी।
