EU Claims Meta's Instagram, Facebook Harmful

The European Commission has preliminarily found Meta in breach of the Digital Services Act, alleging Instagram and Facebook's addictive design harms users, especially teens. Brussels wants features like infinite scroll and autoplay disabled by default, along with screen time breaks. Meta faces a potential fine of up to 6% of its global turnover.

यूरोपीय आयोग ने कहा है कि Meta ने डिजिटल सेवा अधिनियम का उल्लंघन किया है। आरोप है कि Instagram और Facebook का एडिक्टिव डिज़ाइन, खासकर किशोरों को नुकसान पहुँचा रहा है। ब्रसेल्स चाहता है कि इनफिनिट स्क्रॉल और ऑटोप्ले जैसी सुविधाओं को डिफ़ॉल्ट रूप से बंद किया जाए, साथ ही स्क्रीन टाइम ब्रेक भी दिए जाएँ। Meta पर उसके वैश्विक टर्नओवर का 6% तक जुर्माना लग सकता है।
