Madras HC Orders Jail Warden Appointment After Jallikattu Case Acquittal
Times of India · india
The Madras High Court has granted relief to a man denied a jail warden post due to a past Jallikattu protest case. Although acquitted, his candidature was initially rejected based on a 2008 government order. A single judge had previously quashed the rejection, directing his appointment. The state appealed, but a division bench upheld the single judge's order, stating the candidate should be treated as not involved in a criminal case. The court dismissed the state's appeal, confirming his eligibility for the jail warden position.
