बॉम्बे हाईकोर्ट ने सार्वजनिक सड़कों, गलियों और फुटपाथों पर पटाखे फोड़ने पर साल भर की रोक लगा दी है। यह रोक दिवाली के अलावा सभी त्योहारों पर लागू होगी। कोर्ट ने कहा कि इससे प्रदूषण बढ़ता है और लोगों के स्वास्थ्य पर बुरा असर पड़ता है, खासकर बच्चों और बुजुर्गों पर। कोर्ट ने साफ किया है कि पटाखे बनाने या बेचने पर रोक नहीं है, लेकिन सार्वजनिक जगहों पर उनका इस्तेमाल नहीं किया जा सकता। प्रशासन को लोगों को इस रोक के बारे में बताने के निर्देश दिए गए हैं।
