India's Indigenous Bullet Train Nears Reality With Squeeze Tests
Business Standard · business
India's indigenous bullet train program is progressing as the B28 trainset, built in Bengaluru by BEML, undergoes critical squeeze tests. This quality assurance process assesses the train car body's structural integrity under compressive and tensile forces. Following these tests, propulsion systems will be installed, and the train will face climate simulations. The trainset is intended for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad corridor and is designed for Indian conditions, aiming for speeds of 249 kmph. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated fares will be affordable, comparable to flights.
