Govt Mandates Displaying Caller Names On Calls From November 1
Times of India · technology
Starting November 1, telecom operators will begin rolling out Calling Name Presentation (CNAP), a new facility that will display the caller's name on the recipient's phone screen. This service will work for both saved and unsaved numbers, with names for unsaved domestic calls coming from subscriber details held by operators. The Department of Telecommunications has directed all licensed providers to implement this across their service areas. Initially, CNAP will be available on 4G and higher-generation networks, with future consideration for older networks.
