India Sees Over 350 Student Suicides Daily

India is facing a severe student mental health crisis, with an alarming rate of suicides. In 2022 alone, over 1.35 lakh student suicides were reported, averaging nearly 350 daily. Prestigious IIT institutions have also seen a rise in student suicides, with at least 160 recorded in the last two decades. Mental health issues are cited as a primary cause, exacerbated by academic pressure, career competition, and personal challenges.

भारत में छात्रों के मानसिक स्वास्थ्य का संकट बहुत गंभीर है। 2022 में ही 1.35 लाख से ज़्यादा छात्रों ने आत्महत्या की, यानी रोज़ाना करीब 350। बड़े IIT संस्थानों में भी छात्रों की आत्महत्याएं बढ़ी हैं, पिछले 20 सालों में कम से कम 160 मामले सामने आए हैं। पढ़ाई का दबाव, नौकरी की होड़ और निजी समस्याएं इसके मुख्य कारण बताए जा रहे हैं।
