Karnataka's Gruha Jyothi Scheme: Bescom Seeks 15-Day Extension for Unverified Beneficiaries

Bescom has requested a 15-day extension from the Karnataka government to complete the verification of beneficiaries for the Gruha Jyothi free-power scheme. This extension is sought for thousands of consumers who either refused to disclose personal details or could not be reached during the initial two-month drive. Out of 68.9 lakh enrolled consumers, 5.5 lakh have refused details, and 18 lakh households remain unverified due to locked properties or unavailability. If granted, these consumers must visit Bescom offices to re-establish eligibility or risk removal from the scheme.
