SC Seeks Details On Food Label Shape, Size

The Supreme Court has directed the FSSAI to provide specific details on the shape, size, colour, and placement of front-of-pack food warning labels. The court posed 13 questions to the food regulator, demanding clarity on the implementation timeline and how children will be warned about junk food dangers. While acknowledging progress, the SC noted the affidavit lacked practical implementation details. The regulator must respond within 10 days.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने FSSAI से कहा है कि वो खाने के पैकेट पर लगने वाले चेतावनी लेबल के आकार, रंग और जगह के बारे में खास जानकारी दे। कोर्ट ने फूड रेगुलेटर से 13 सवाल पूछे हैं, जिसमें ये भी पूछा है कि ये कब से लागू होगा और बच्चों को जंक फूड के खतरों के बारे में कैसे बताया जाएगा। कोर्ट ने कहा कि अभी तक दी गई जानकारी में इसे लागू करने के तरीके साफ नहीं हैं।
