Delhi HC Stays JNU Professor's Termination Over Sexual Harassment Allegations

The Delhi High Court has stayed Jawaharlal Nehru University's decision to terminate the services of Congress MP and professor Angomcha Bimol Akoijam. The university had dismissed Akoijam following allegations of sexual harassment by at least 11 female students. Complainants alleged he invited students to his residence for meetings and made inappropriate remarks. JNU terminated his services on October 9 based on an inquiry report. The court has issued a notice to the university and will hear the matter further in January.

दिल्ली हाईकोर्ट ने जवाहरलाल नेहरू यूनिवर्सिटी (JNU) के कांग्रेस सांसद और प्रोफेसर अंगोमचा बिमोल एकोइजम को सेवा से बर्खास्त करने के फैसले पर रोक लगा दी है। यूनिवर्सिटी ने कम से कम 11 महिला छात्रों द्वारा यौन उत्पीड़न के आरोपों के बाद एकोइजम को बर्खास्त कर दिया था। शिकायतकर्ताओं ने आरोप लगाया कि उन्होंने छात्रों को बैठकों के लिए अपने आवास पर बुलाया और अनुचित टिप्पणी की। JNU ने एक जांच रिपोर्ट के आधार पर 9 अक्टूबर को उनकी सेवाएं समाप्त कर दी थीं। अदालत ने यूनिवर्सिटी को नोटिस जारी किया है और जनवरी में मामले की आगे सुनवाई करेगी।
