US Dismantles Air Defense Systems in Iraq

US forces in Iraqi Kurdistan have begun dismantling and relocating their air defense systems. This action precedes the final withdrawal of international coalition troops, scheduled to conclude by September 30, 2026. Heavy military equipment is also being withdrawn daily from northern Iraq. The US troop deployment in Iraq is no longer deemed necessary, according to recent statements by the Iraqi Prime Minister and US President.
