Bengal to be 3rd State to Implement Uniform Civil Code: CM Suvendu Adhikari

West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced on Saturday that the state will be the third to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), following Uttarakhand and Gujarat. President Droupadi Murmu recently gave her assent to the Gujarat UCC Bill, completing its legal process. Adhikari stated that public hearings will be conducted across five divisions of Bengal by the committee drafting the UCC. He assured that all suggestions would be considered before the report is submitted to the assembly for implementation.

पश्चिम बंगाल के मुख्यमंत्री सुवेंदु अधिकारी ने शनिवार को घोषणा की कि राज्य उत्तराखंड और गुजरात के बाद यूनिफॉर्म सिविल कोड (UCC) लागू करने वाला तीसरा राज्य होगा। राष्ट्रपति द्रौपदी मुर्मू ने हाल ही में गुजरात यूसीसी बिल को अपनी मंजूरी दे दी, जिससे इसकी कानूनी प्रक्रिया पूरी हो गई। अधिकारी ने कहा कि यूसीसी का मसौदा तैयार करने वाली समिति बंगाल के पांच डिवीजनों में जन सुनवाई करेगी। उन्होंने आश्वासन दिया कि रिपोर्ट को विधानसभा में लागू करने के लिए सौंपने से पहले सभी सुझावों पर विचार किया जाएगा।
