India Defends External Affairs Minister's Meeting With US Secretary of State in Mumbai

The Indian government has defended External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar's upcoming meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Mumbai, refuting opposition claims that the minister had been "summoned." The Ministry of External Affairs stated it is a decade-long practice to host foreign dignitaries in various Indian cities. Jaishankar will also host UAE's Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Mumbai, with both meetings set to review bilateral relations and discuss strengthening strategic partnerships. Discussions will cover energy, trade, defence, and emerging technologies, alongside regional and global developments.

भारत सरकार ने विदेश मंत्री एस. जयशंकर की अमेरिकी विदेश सचिव मार्को रुबियो के साथ मुंबई में होने वाली आगामी बैठक का बचाव किया है। सरकार ने विपक्ष के उन दावों को खारिज कर दिया है जिनमें कहा गया था कि मंत्री को 'तलब' किया गया था। विदेश मंत्रालय ने कहा कि यह एक दशक पुरानी प्रथा है कि विदेशी गणमान्य व्यक्तियों की मेजबानी भारत के विभिन्न शहरों में की जाए। जयशंकर मुंबई में यूएई के विदेश मंत्री अब्दुल्ला बिन जायद अल नाहयान की भी मेजबानी करेंगे। दोनों बैठकें द्विपक्षीय संबंधों की समीक्षा करेंगी और रणनीतिक साझेदारी को मजबूत करने पर चर्चा करेंगी।
