India Rejects UN Expert's Migrant Rights Report For Unsupported References

India Today · india

India has strongly rejected a United Nations expert's report on migrants' rights, citing "imprecise and unsupported" references. Deputy Secretary Barkha Tamrakar stated that country-specific allegations cannot be based on typographical errors or vague geographical descriptions like "Assan and Northern India." India emphasized that such reports should not present unverified claims as settled UN findings. The country also rejected the notion that irregular migration should solely be viewed as a vulnerability, rather than a breach of immigration law. India requested three specific corrections to ensure accuracy and verifiability in future reports.
