CSMT Space Crunch Delays Central Railway's Platform Extension for 15-Car Trains

Central Railway's plan to increase 15-car train services from Mumbai's CSMT is stalled due to a lack of space, with only one platform currently accommodating them. Extending two more platforms requires significant track realignment and signalling changes, potentially slowing down approaching trains. Engineers are concerned about speed restrictions increasing from 40 kmph to 20-25 kmph due to these modifications. The work, planned after Diwali, is crucial for boosting passenger capacity on the CSMT-Kasara/Karjat/Khopoli corridor, aiming to increase services from 54 to around 150.

मुंबई के CSMT से 15-कार ट्रेन सेवाओं को बढ़ाने की सेंट्रल रेलवे की योजना जगह की कमी के कारण रुकी हुई है, क्योंकि वर्तमान में केवल एक प्लेटफॉर्म ही उन्हें समायोजित कर पा रहा है। दो और प्लेटफॉर्म को बढ़ाने के लिए महत्वपूर्ण ट्रैक पुनर्व्यवस्थापन और सिग्नलिंग में बदलाव की आवश्यकता होगी, जिससे आने वाली ट्रेनों की गति धीमी हो सकती है। इंजीनियरों को इन बदलावों के कारण गति प्रतिबंधों के 40 किमी प्रति घंटा से घटकर 20-25 किमी प्रति घंटा होने की चिंता है। दिवाली के बाद नियोजित यह काम, CSMT-कसारा/कर्जत/खोपोली कॉरिडोर पर यात्री क्षमता बढ़ाने के लिए महत्वपूर्ण है, जिसका लक्ष्य सेवाओं को 54 से बढ़ाकर लगभग 150 करना है।
