Indian Army Dogs Trained For High-Altitude Patrols In Ladakh
Aaj Tak · india
Indian Army and ITBP use specially trained dogs, including mountain breeds like Bhakarwal and Tibetan Mastiffs, for security duties in Ladakh's challenging high-altitude regions. These dogs assist in patrols, detecting explosives, and identifying suspicious individuals. Training involves acclimatization to thin air, extreme cold, and difficult terrain over several weeks. Dogs are gradually exposed to the environment and their physical capacity is monitored to ensure they can perform duties effectively without overexertion. Their training also focuses on following handler commands and maintaining focus in harsh conditions.
