Indian Carmakers Hopeful for Diwali Sales Boost Amidst Navratri Decline

Times of India · automobile

Indian carmakers are pinning their hopes on the upcoming Diwali festival to revive sales momentum, following a year-on-year decline in passenger vehicle registrations during Navratri. This dip is partly attributed to a high base from September 2025's GST rate cuts, which had previously boosted demand. Despite the overall registration drop, major manufacturers like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, and Tata Motors reported strong bookings during Navratri, indicating sustained customer interest. They anticipate continued demand through Dhanteras and Diwali, with Maruti Suzuki expecting double-digit growth for the festive period.
