Voting Rights Delayed For 18-Year-Olds

Times of India · politics

Thousands of eligible 18-year-olds are facing a delay in getting their voting rights as the Election Commission's annual summary revision of electoral rolls has been stalled. A lack of consensus between the Chief Election Commissioner and the two election commissioners is holding up crucial decisions. The process, which typically sees the final electoral roll published in January, has already missed its May-June timeline for the Special Summary Revision announcement. This delay means young citizens will have to wait longer to be added to the voter list.
