UCIL, Kacham Anand Rao, has refuted claims linking uranium mining in Jharkhand's Singhbhum region to health issues. He stated that the low-grade uranium ore, with only 200-300 grams per tonne, has minimal health impact. Rao attributed prevalent diseases like skin ailments and cancer to local conditions and backwardness, citing over ten scientific studies that found no connection to uranium operations. UCIL operates seven mines in the state and conducts awareness programs to address public misconceptions.
