Eurozone government bond yields eased on Wednesday, retreating from multi-year highs as investors grew cautious about further central bank interest rate increases. Germany's 10-year bond yield, the benchmark, fell 4 basis points to 3.57%, down from Monday's high of 3.65%. This decline offered some relief after a difficult September for bond markets, driven by rising energy prices and inflation concerns. Policymakers from the US Federal Reserve and the European Central Bank have signalled a more flexible approach to future rate hikes, contributing to the market's shift.
