Odisha's Telecom Towers Face High Cyclone Risk: CDRI Report

Times of India · environment

A recent study by the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI) reveals that 57% of Odisha's telecom towers are exposed to high or very high cyclone risk. The report highlights Odisha as highly vulnerable to climate-related hazards, with 26,919 towers facing multiple risks. Coastal districts like Khurda, Cuttack, and Balasore are particularly susceptible to cyclones and storm surges. Telecom outages during disasters can severely hamper emergency response and economic activity, underscoring the need for enhanced resilience measures.
