India Needs 100 Ships To Own Trade

Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has called for India to own its trade by adding 100 ships to its merchant fleet. India currently pays ₹75 billion annually to foreign shipping lines. A five-year roadmap is proposed to reduce dependence on foreign vessels for critical cargo. Operating ships under an Indian flag is reportedly 16% to 20% costlier.

केंद्रीय मंत्री सर्बानंद सोनोवाल चाहते हैं कि भारत अपने व्यापार का मालिक बने। इसके लिए उन्होंने अपने जहाजी बेड़े में 100 जहाज जोड़ने की बात कही है। अभी भारत विदेशी शिपिंग कंपनियों को हर साल ₹75 अरब देता है। ज़रूरी सामान के लिए विदेशी जहाजों पर निर्भरता कम करने का 5 साल का प्लान है। भारतीय झंडे वाले जहाज चलाना 16% से 20% महंगा पड़ता है।
