The modified air traffic control (ATC) tower at Trichy International Airport is facing further delays, likely missing its revised December 2026 deadline. The project, costing Rs 60.7 crore, aims to increase the tower's height from 46 to 53 metres. While the technical block may be completed on time, the ATC tower's transition is now expected by mid-2027. This delay could significantly impact the airport's crucial runway expansion project, as the new tower is essential for its implementation. Construction was previously halted due to height concerns.

तिरुचिरापल्ली इंटरनेशनल एयरपोर्ट पर नए एयर ट्रैफिक कंट्रोल (एटीसी) टावर के काम में और देरी होने वाली है। यह अब दिसंबर 2026 की नई समय सीमा तक पूरा नहीं हो पाएगा। इस प्रोजेक्ट पर 60.7 करोड़ रुपये खर्च होंगे और इसका मकसद टावर की ऊंचाई 46 मीटर से बढ़ाकर 53 मीटर करना है। टेक्निकल ब्लॉक का काम समय पर पूरा हो सकता है, लेकिन एटीसी टावर का काम अब 2027 के मध्य तक पूरा होने की उम्मीद है। इस देरी से एयरपोर्ट के रनवे विस्तार के अहम प्रोजेक्ट पर काफी असर पड़ सकता है, क्योंकि नए टावर के बिना इसे लागू करना संभव नहीं है। पहले भी ऊंचाई को लेकर चिंता के कारण निर्माण कार्य रोका गया था।
