Pune Records Highest Dengue Cases in October; Four Wards Account for Half
Times of India · health
Pune experienced its worst month for dengue in October, with 843 laboratory-confirmed cases, a significant rise from previous months. This surge was heavily concentrated, as four specific wards, Aundh-Baner, Yerawada-Wadgaonsheri, Dhankawadi-Sahakarnagar, and Keshavnagar, accounted for half of the total cases reported in October. The city's cumulative dengue count from January to October reached 2,486, with over 81% of these cases occurring in August, September, and October. Experts attribute the increase to stagnant water, construction sites, and warm, humid conditions post-monsoon, facilitating mosquito breeding.
