Hari Budha Magar, a former Gurkha soldier, has achieved a remarkable feat by becoming the first double above-the-knee amputee to summit Mount Everest. The 31-year-old lost both his legs above the knee in a mine blast in Afghanistan in 2010 while serving with the British Army's Royal Gurkha Rifles. Despite initial struggles with depression and alcohol, Magar found strength in his family and sports rehabilitation. He previously climbed Mera Peak in Nepal in 2017, a milestone that fueled his ambition for Everest.
